2023 tech events: The conferences, summits and events you need to know about

What’s going to happen in tech in 2023? It’s impossible to predict the future, but you can be sure that we’ll see all kinds of changes, both technological and social, over the next four years. From the latest in artificial intelligence to the continuing push towards more sustainable energy sources, there will be plenty of exciting topics at these summits and conferences.

2021 was the year of blockchain

This year is shaping up to be the year of blockchain. According to Gartner, the business value derived from blockchain will grow to $176 billion by 2025, and increase to $3.1 trillion by 2030.

Here are seven blockchain events happening in 2021 that you won’t want to miss.

Events taking place in Dubai and California look at a variety of use cases for blockchain including financial services, supply chain management, travel & hospitality and cybersecurity.

Leading companies including Accenture, Hitachi Solutions International Limited (HSIL), IBM, Oracle Corporation , SAP SE , State Street Bank & Trust Company among others are exploring how they can apply blockchain technology today or over the next few years across their own businesses. Other events explore what role government can play in regulating ICOs and crypto tokens.

These include regulatory sessions hosted by New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) where NYDFS officials share insight into how their agency views cryptocurrency as well as regulatory changes such as Project KISS which aims to develop standards for more efficient KYC/AML processes when tokenizing securities offerings.

2022 will be a year of disruption

The pandemic has forced us all to re-evaluate how we live and work. It’s also had a major impact on the tech industry, with many companies accelerating their digital transformation plans. As we move into 2023, there are a number of key events that will help shape the future of the sector. Here are some of the most important ones to add to your calendar.

The 2023 Gartner Symposium is where technology leaders share insights and demonstrate innovations in IT, Business & Digital Transformation Strategies. Over 1,500 business and IT executives from around the world will gather at this conference in Barcelona from 9th – 12th October 2023 to explore ways to stay ahead of disruptive trends like AI and Machine Learning as well as emerging markets such as China, India and Russia.

2023 will bring new regulations

As we move into 2023, there are a few new regulations that businesses need to be aware of. The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) goes into effect on January 1st, 2023. This law gives consumers the right to know what personal information is being collected about them, the right to have that information deleted, and the right to opt-out of data collection.

Businesses that collect data from California residents will need to be in compliance with this law. A second regulation coming in 2023 is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Similar to CCPA, GDPR governs how companies handle EU citizens’ data. Compliance for GDPR begins october 25th, 2022. Any company who collects or processes any type of personal data belonging to an EU citizen must comply with this regulation.
